They say if you love what you do, it’s not work, and we love collecting Swords and Militaria.
Rex and I have been collecting militaria, specialising in British and European swords from the 15th Century to the end of the reign of Queen Victoria, for over 30 years. My interest began as an Artist when I was commissioned to do a painting of a Scottish Knight with basket hilt in hand, riding into Edenborough castle. At this point I had no idea what a basket hilted sword was. Rex remembered that a friend had swords on the wall and one visit to that collector’s home was all it took to turn us into sword collectors.
Personally, I have a keen interest in research and currently write articles for the Heritage Arms Society and the Antique and Historical Arms Society of South Australia. I am also the editor of the Heritage Arms Newsletter “Barrels and Blades”.
Given That Rex and I have now both now retired from the Corporate world, we decided to establish Past Glories to provide an opportunity to sell items excess to our collection and secure items that are a better fit with the direction we are now taking.
